Employment at HIS
If you would like to be considered as a candidate for future teaching openings, please send as email attachments (pdf attachments or Word documents) a cover letter, current resume with references, and letters of recommendation to Headmaster Rick Branson at rbranson@his.ac.jp.

Also, HIS annually hires one or more teachers temporarily for our Elementary Summer School, usually five weeks in mid summer. If you would like to apply for 2011, please send a resume to Deputy Headmaster Barry Ratzliff at bratzliff@his.ac.jp.

HIS hires certified teachers for our Pre-K-12 classes and special programs as needed. On average, we hire only 2-3 teachers per year. The overseas schools' hiring calendar is such that most schools (including HIS) hire in February, and many schools utilize hiring fairs run by organizations based in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia. HIS starts reviewing applications in October, so we suggest sending material in October and November. However, we are always seeking well qualified, high-quality applicants to add to our resume base.

As an international school, HIS seeks teachers with experience teaching in international schools, and are certified and have experience teaching in their grade and subject area. HIS includes both the International Primary Curriculum and the Advanced Placement program as part of its curriculum.

We have many applicants each year and cannot respond personally to all of them; we will respond to candidates who most closely meet our potential needs and we will keep those candidates' resumes on file. The HIS salary and benefits package is competitive within Japan and Asia.

Hokkaido is an exceptionally beautiful place to live, and many of our teachers enjoy outdoor recreation including hiking, camping, fishing, and winter sports including skiing and snowboarding.

We thank all of the candidates who submitted applications for the 2010-2011 school year.

HIS welcomes as new teachers for the 2010-2011 school year ...
