HIS Niseko Activities
HIS supports and promotes activities outside the classroom that are rewarding, educational, and fun for our students (parents and teachers, too). Extracurricular activity offerings at HIS provide students with the opportunities to accomplish to a greater degree the educational outcomes, or TADs (Transdisciplinary Skills and Dispositions), of the school's curriculum.
Spirit Days and Spirit Week
HIS honors the school spirit focus on community and learning by sponsoring spirit days once a month and spirit week twice a year. On spirit days, students are encouraged to wear the school colors of green, white, and black. During spirit week, students and teachers choose fun ways to come together as a community by choosing a theme for each day of the week. Students, faculty, and staff dress accordingly.
Cultural Exchange
Cultural Exchange activities are held with the Niseko Town elementary schools on a regular basis to promote understanding and respect for similarities and differences between cultures through shared learning experiences. Through these activities our students develop friendships with students from other cultures and broaden their view of the world.
Takino
Takino Suzuran is a campground and snow park located about 15 km from the Sapporo school. Each year, all HIS students from the 4th–12th grades stay overnight at Takino in March. This annual favorite is a great event for team building, adventure, outdoor activity, and fun.
