Welcome to the HIS Niseko Library
The HIS Niseko library is located in the southeast corner of the multipurpose room. It is available for use by all HIS Niseko students and their parents as well as Friends of the Library. If you are interested in checking out books or becoming a Friend of the Library, contact Peggy Shibuya.

Around 750 books are in the HIS Niseko Library collection. These books can be searched online by author, title, or keywords. The library also posts an elementary web page for students announcing the latest library news, activities, and new additions to the collection. The Niseko collection has special sets of picture books for the development of the 6 + 1 Writing Strategies and the Seven Keys of Reading Comprehension. Specific book sets also support the thematic units of The International Primary Curriculum (IPC).

Encyclopedia Britannica Online

The Encyclopedia Britannica Online is a rich and wonderful resource giving students instant access to four complete encyclopedias, an atlas, learning materials, magazines, Web sites, and videos. Click the image at left (or the link above) to launch the encyclopedia but note you must enter a username and password for access. Please ask your teacher for details.

HIS recognizes the great value of instilling a joy for reading and teachers encourage students to use and enjoy the library. Elementary classes visit the library on a regular basis for story time and for checking out books.
