We are Huskies

can be heard in and out of our school. We began our Husky legacy in 1958 with just 12 students and have grown to include two campuses on the island of Hokkaido: Sapporo and Niseko. Across the island, we continue to be the only accredited (WASC) international school. Our Niseko campus was founded in 2012 and has expanded to the middle school level, while our Sapporo campus runs from pre-K through grade 12 with a school boarding program that provides dorm students with many opportunities to grow more independent.

We believe

in the power of experiential learning that is based on the needs and interests of the students. We believe in the development of the whole human being, inclusive of the growth that comes through the outdoors, the arts and music, service learning, and character-enriched education. Our campuses provide exceptional access to the outdoors, top-notch venues to showcase artistic creativity, and programs that allow students to determine how they might better serve their surrounding communities. Character, Arts, Service, and an endearing love for the Outdoors run deep in all Huskies, big and small.

Early Years Students…

…learn through careful tended environments, guided by their teachers to explore further (Reggio Emilia). 

Elementary Students… 

…explore big ideas that tie various subjects together through student curiosity and research, engaging in learning that culminates through student-led assemblies and learning fairs (International Primary Years Curriculum). 

Middle School Students…

…develop skills connected to big ideas as a part of the International Middle Years Curriculum. 

High School Students…

…enhance skills and deepen understanding through a curriculum that is centered on rigorous Advanced Placement courses, core subjects that focus on preparing students to enter the world, and electives that honor the outdoors, the arts, and music, and supporting programs that enrich character through service learning and reflection.
