Welcome to Hokkaido International School.

It is our pleasure to serve the Sapporo and Niseko communities by providing a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment for your child. As Head of School, I am proud to be part of the strong foundation and vibrant community that define HIS. I am thrilled to serve and support our students, staff and families.

HIS is the only WASC-accredited, JCIS-member international school in Hokkaido, with a 65-year history of academic excellence. Our graduates are well-rounded, service-oriented young people who grow into mindful leaders through academic pursuit, character development, and global engagement.

Our students represent more than 40 nationalities, with nearly as many languages spoken at home. We focus on developing essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication, to prepare students for success in universities and careers worldwide. We believe in teaching the whole child through our monthly Virtues and HUSKIES school-wide learning goals, supporting academic, social, and emotional development.
