2025 Winter Program @
Hokkaido International School’s
Sapporo Campus
Welcome to Our Winter Program!
Hokkaido International School is pleased to announce the beginning of the Winter Program at HIS in January 2025.
In our school song, we reference HIS as the star of the northern sky in Hokkaido. Connecting with that, our guiding theme for this year’s winter program is:
Explore Hokkaido’s Winter Sports & Activities.
Let’s take a look at the week’s activities and dates…
Week 1: Monday January 6th ~ Friday January 10th, 2025
Winter sports are an essential part of life in Hokkaido. The 1972 Winter Olympic Games left a permanent mark on the region and has inspired countless young athletes to pursue excellence in a number of winter sports. Hokkaido’s climate is particularly suited to winter sports as it receives a large volume of snow each year.
Throughout the week, students attending the winter program will take part in: ice skating, snowshoeing, snow tubing, nordic skiing, and alpine skiing or snowboarding at venues around the Sapporo area. In addition to our off-campus activities, there will also be time on campus to learn important skills and knowledge about safety and well-being in the outdoors.
Students must have some prior experience either skiing or snowboarding, and should feel comfortable riding the chair lift at a ski resort. This is not a suitable program for first-time skiers or snowboarders.
