MP3 News 4/17

It has been another productive week in the Mp3 classroom.

Literacy

After wrapping up our poetry unit.  (Students were given another day on Monday to tie up any loose ends in their publishing.)  We moved onto our next unit: “Writing about Reading.”  Students began looking at sample texts and learning to “write within the story.”  We re-read the mentor text Fireflies by Julie Brinckloe from our narrative unit and examined the questions that writers ask themselves and try to answer in their reading.  We used sentence stems to push our thinking and make bolder claims about a text.

IPC

In the International section of our unit “The Story of English,” students are researching endangered languages.  In their groups, they are discovering that creating an informative podcast takes a great deal of work.  Students have been researching, writing scripts, recording, and editing these podcasts on the garage band app.  Students have had a brief tutorial on how to best use the app for podcast purposes, but for the most part, have been working with their groups.  We are looking forward to the finished products!

Have a wonderful weekend!
