SPIRAL

I was driving on my way back from the eye doctor. The silence was peaceful; all I heard were the sounds of crickets chirping in the distance. Slowly drowsing away, I continued driving. The only thing I remembered was closing my eyes for a split second, and I awoke. Not in my car, not into a tree, but somewhere else. The plains were miles long and the sky was so blue it almost looked like it was unreal. In the distance, a faint image of a house was before me. This house looked plain and normal, with a sand colored wall and a cherry red roof, in the middle of the house was a four by four window with an ocean blue tint. I decided the best option was to try and reach the house before nightfall. I walked, and I walked, and it seemed as if I were heading nowhere, and it seemed that night was never going to come. Hours, days, weeks, I lost track of time. All I wanted to do was leave, as I took my final steps I finally reached the house. There was no doorbell, so I knocked on the door. No answer. I knocked on the door again. No answer. I repeated this for about 10 more attempts before giving up. I could no longer wait; I checked if the door was locked. I slowly wrap my hands around the shiny golden doorknob, with a creak from the plain red door. A figure, a man, my brain could not comprehend the horrors of what I saw. Stood at the entrance of the door as if he had been waiting for anyone to show up. The next thing I knew, they took out a shotgun and shot me right on the forehead.

I awoke. When I looked up, the same blue sky appeared before me. It took me a few minutes to stabilize myself. I slowly stood back up, confused and scared. I slowly continued searching my surroundings. However, this time it was different. Something else was here. The same eerie feeling I felt right before I opened the door haunted me again. I looked at it, and it looked at me. This mysterious shadowed figure stood before me; they wrapped themselves around me like a cloak, and my vision slowly faded to black.

Was I home? I awoke, but this time, I was staring at a gray ceiling. I sat up The house was dark, and my TV was still on. I do not recall ever making it back home. The TV flickered, showing a few messages on the screen.

  1. Do not look out the window.
  2. Do not open the door.
  3. Do not let him enter the house.

I recalled some of my memories and I understood I was not back in my reality. These messages that appeared were here as if something was keeping me in. I still needed to make it back home, I still had a life to live. I immediately stood back up and looked out my window. It was the same plains, with the same blue aquatic sky. I backed away and started searching the house for any tools or weapons. The entire house was full of empty cabinets, not even food in the fridge. Hours passed and I searched every nook and cranny of every room. The only room I haven't checked was the basement. I slowly crept downwards with each staircase creaking even louder. The oak wood stairs seemed so old and worn out, as if they were to snap and break any second. I took a look around and found one shotgun with 1 round of bullets sitting in the far center of the room. There was a knocking sound echoing from upstairs; it was the door. I immediately rushed back up and stood on guard with the gun. The door slowly creaked open. I loaded the gun and aimed. The door opened fully, I immediately fired the round straight at the center of his head. I ran out of the house without looking back, farther and farther, until I saw a faint figure standing there. He didn't seem to recognize me, and I didn't either. I gave him one last hug before running even further, so far to the point I reached the very end. The end of the world. The end of this world. The wall was plastered with the fake blue sky and clouds painted roughly on the wall. A red door sat in the middle of it. I took one last look at the world and took my final steps out.

Back I was in my car just getting ready to leave. Before leaving, I ran back to the eye doctor to grab a cup of coffee, so I make sure I do not make the same mistake I had made last time. I took off, trying to focus as hard as I could while driving, making sure I did not end up in an accident. As I continued on the road, bright lights shone in my eyes. It was an ambulance and cops searching the scene. I saw an exact car replica of mine, including the same license plate, wrecked behind a tree. I stopped there, watching the scene thoroughly. When suddenly a sight of my lifeless body was being taken out of the car wreck.
