The Elementary Assembly is a staple of HIS. It’s a chance for students to share their learning and discoveries with parents. Only, for the past three years, their audience has been much smaller. Due to the pandemic constraints, students have grown used to presenting to an internal audience of teachers. But all that changed on September 27th, 2022, when the parents returned with joy.

   MP2 Huskies performing

Joy came with nervous anticipation as the students introduced themselves and performed to an audience of around 20. With this, students rediscovered (and some discovered for the first time) what it’s like to perform in front of a larger crowd.

The EY began the assembly with the morning song followed by MP1 singing ‘You have got to sing’, and MP2 presenting ‘how to keep your brain healthy’ as they clapped and stomped to the rhythm of the song: The March of the Radetzky. The assembly ended with MP3 signing an African song: Funga Alafia, meaning “welcome” as Mr. Morimoto played the African drums.
