High school chemistry students have recently been learning about chemical solutions, and as part of a module on solubility, they explored what happens when two aqueous solutions are mixed together. Almost like magic, a solid will form if one of the products is insoluble in water! This solid is called the precipitate, and so these reactions are called precipitation reactions. And it’s all more fun when the chemical compounds have interesting colors!
