The 2023 Huskie Fall Festival

When you think about fall, you might focus on the great food you can eat, the fun times you can spend with your friends, or even just the comforting atmosphere you feel along with the season. However, there's so little time to do all of these wonderous things, so what better way to check off your fall bucket list than spending it at a fall festival!

When you think about fall, you might focus on the great food you can eat, the fun times you can spend with your friends, or even just the comforting atmosphere you feel along with the season. However, there's so little time to do all of these wonderful things, so what better way to check off your fall bucket list than spending it at a fall festival?

On November 3rd, 2023, HIS students had come to school with a little hop in their steps. With overflowing excitement, many ran to their classrooms to prepare for the main event of the season: the HIS Fall Festival. Intending to save money for many fun service trips to come, high school and middle school students set up their fun games and stalls with the hope of attracting many customers. As the festival opened up at 9:00, many parents and their kids waltzed into the school with excitement; running to check all the activities they could participate in. With hops and jumps of impatience, the small visitors waited for their parents to finish purchasing some tickets that would allow them to play the many interesting activities which included games such as throw-in-the-bucket, balloon pop, gun range, ring toss, and many more. With laughs and gasps as the kids showed off their skills, many prizes were exchanged with the visitors showing bright happy smiles in return for the fun time.

Moving from one game to the next, from floor to floor, would make anyone hungry. Not to worry as our brilliant students and parent community have got them covered with the food stalls in the fourth-floor gym. The aroma of sweet, spicy, buttery food captured the attention of parents and kids alike. As they made their way to the gym, they were hit with the sweet and smooth jazz and rock sounds coming from the musical performers. With great food and lovely music surrounding them, our guests drowned themselves in the warm and fuzzy feelings of the fall season.

To round the festival out, many guests waited with excitement for 1:45 p.m. That was the time scheduled to make the big announcement: the winners of the HIS Raffle. With parents rushing to buy last-minute tickets, everyone settled around the stage as Mr. Schlosser got the prizes ready. With bated breath, many families, students, and children waited in anticipation for who would be called to win these spectacular prizes that consisted of gift cards, bags of rice, a bicycle, an Apple watch, a Nintendo Switch, and many more.

Cheers to a successful Fall Festival with hopes for the next one to be even better. A huge thank you to all of the students, teachers, staff, and parents who made this whole experience possible. A huge thanks to the PTA, with great leading support from the Co-Chair Ms. Junna Kudo.

Thanks to everyone for whatever role they played: parent, teacher, student, visitor; volunteer, musical performer, activity participant, or delicious food eater. But more than anything else mentioned, what made this year special was the reuniting of our inner Husky community with the one surrounding our school walls. The Fall Festival is a place to bring the community together. We are very happy to have done that with so much joy, after a four-year hiatus. Thanks so much for coming. We'll see you next year!
