The Unauthorized Times

Unauthorized Times created Hokkaido International School's first unauthorized newspaper, which is 100% student-made. The Unauthorized Times newspaper consists of a news page with articles, and an entertainment page with comics, word searches, interviews, quizzes, and one article. Finally, there is a secret page that is only for subscribers when it comes out.

Renovation

The Unauthorized Times is now going through a "renovation," where the newspaper will be put out with a fourth page for premium subscribers and a real newspaper for super subscribers. The editor says that they have not completely developed or talked about the idea yet, but they hope that this seed of an idea will grow into a beautiful tree.

Our New Brand

The Unauthorized Times also has an official mark, which can be viewed on the website or any of the latest newspapers. This brand can help the Unauthorized Times with marketing and branding, which are essential for the growth of the Unauthorized Times. Furthermore, this new official mark can be integrated across various platforms easily, unlike a whole newspaper, which can be harder to integrate across platforms. This new brand will reinforce the presence of the Unauthorized Times and could be on t-shirts, mugs, or other merchandise if the Unauthorized Times gets to that point.

The Process of Production

• Editors or designers redesign the page so that the newspaper looks fresh and new.

• The reporters/writers write their articles and someone is chosen to create the word search

• The grammar editor goes into the newspaper and makes sure there are no mistakes.

• The reporters and writers start working on the next newspaper while the editors and designers do a final touch-up on the newspaper so that it is ready to come out the next day.

• Editors print the newspaper out and the newspaper is delivered to subscribers and elementary.
