Every year, the student council organizes a Prom for high school students. This year's it took place at the Miyanomori Francis Church with the theme being "Secret Garden". Prom Night 2024 was all about deepening friendships, having fun, and nurturing the human spirit, just like the book that the theme was inspired by.
Prom 2024: "Secret Garden"
The students embarked on a thrilling journey, boarding the bus from school at 3 p.m. The excitement continued as they arrived at 4:00 p.m., greeted by the opening remarks and a captivating video brimming with past prom photos. The atmosphere was electric as the activities kicked off! Bingo was the first game, followed by the lively Musical Chairs. These interactive games truly brought everyone together, fostering a sense of unity and fun!
At 4:40, the photo booth became the center of attention. The dark green backdrop, adorned with leaves to match the "Secret Garden" theme, provided the perfect setting for creative poses. Our IT coordinator, Mr.Katayama, was there to capture these unforgettable moments professionally along with the help of our Arts Officer Taishi. Whether individual portraits or group photos, each shot was as valuable as gold.
The rock band gave a fantastic performance to hype everything up. It gave a good intro for the most awaited part of the night—dinner. Despite different opinions, students mostly enjoyed the food served by the buffet.
As the sun slowly set down and the music tunes higher, it was time to get to business. People got up from the dinner table one by one to show off cool dance moves, including students and teachers! Mr.Pangier, our Language Arts and Publications teacher, steals the spotlight and enlightens the room with his elegant and rhythmic dance moves.
Like every year, awards are given at the end of the Prom to the best-dressed and best-dancing students. This year, the best-dressed girls were Audrey Ishiyama and Karen Kitagawa; the best-dressed boys were Emilio Tanaka, Luke Zheng, and Mr. Katayama. The best dancers were Nina Tadano and Emilio Tanaka (Again!).
This year's prom was memorable and full of joy. The memories our students made that night were worth a million bucks!
