An introduction to this year’s theme

With every year comes a new “theme” for prom, with last year’s theme being “Secret Garden”. This year’s theme was “Mission Impossible,” and it was nothing like anything before. Prom participants were all assigned a “role” which they had to act out until the end of the event. Certain people received the “criminal role”, one was given the “mafia boss” role, and the others were assigned the citizen role, with the objective of the game being quite simple: find the mafia boss.

How the event began

The event began at 17:15, to be exact, where ticketing took place. Ticketing was run by our current spirit officer, Elly-grace, and our current sports officer, Joohye. Once the doors to the venue were open and everyone took their seats, the event was officially opened by a wonderful “Sh-boom” performance led by Lucas, Theo, Khant, Luke, and Ewan!

After the wonderful performance, everyone headed outside the venue for a brief group photo. By the time everyone had returned to their seats, dinner was ready.

The food

Dinner consisted of a 4 course meal professionally prepared by the chefs at the venue. From appetizers to dessert, the course and the food were plated perfectly.

Rock Band Performances

While having the wonderful dinner course, the rock band, led by a few of our talented students, also simultaneously performed a few songs ,which was a very nice accompaniment. Being a mix of both English and Japanese songs, the performances were very fitting, calming the mood at times and also hyping up the mood at other times.

Activity time

After dinner, it was finally time to start the activities, which involved looking for clues and solving them in return for a little hint for the mafia boss’s identity. Everyone got up, started talking, and moved around, making this time a very successful bonding activity. The activity time was wrapped up with a quick 5-minute voting session for all the participants.

Dance Time

What better way to end prom other than Dance Time! Probably one of the best moments of the whole event, looking back, students were everywhere on the dance floor, and who could ever forget Mr Pangier absolutely seizing his dominance with his dance skills? Popular songs like Gangnam Style were played, and everyone was in a great mood!

Ending Remarks

Prom was wrapped up with the criminals and the mafia boss being revealed. After a lot of confusion and discussion among participants, it was revealed that Kenzo, Ava, and Albert F were the criminals, with the mafia boss being Alek in the very end! After a packed schedule and a lot of fun, all students were dismissed from another successful school event.

We would like to thank Ms Sugino, Mr Katayama, and the Prom Committee for making this event possible, and we hope that next year’s prom is even better!
