The 2025 Huskies Send-Off Game: Remembering the 24-25 B-ball Season

This year, the basketball games were a bit different and did not follow the typical tournament style; instead, both the HS Boys and HS Girls teams played some friendly games with the other schools in Tokyo. Regardless, both teams played exceptionally well, stealing a few wins here and there. 

Interviewing one of our seniors, Mareto

How did you feel playing your last game here at HIS?

I honestly felt emotional because my 6-year basketball career started here, at HIS. Leaving this place will be hard for me but at the same time, I felt very happy because I was able to play my final game with the peers I grew up with.

In Tokyo, you stood up as the team captain, but what things did you put effort into so that the team could play at its best?

First of all, I made sure to stay consistent with my shot accuracy. Managing a team was quite hard because there was just so much to consider, but I didn’t want that to affect my gameplay. This year’s theme, Kaizen, has stuck with me even during the tournament. I made sure to embrace it and try new methods to try and coach my teammates.

Do you have any advice for the upcoming youngsters?

Play ball, don’t let anything stop you.

With that said, the game ended in a win for the seniors + teachers team. A lot of great plays from various angles were made during the game. We hope that next year we can have something similar to this, as we really believe that these sorts of events make up our school. Finally, we would like to thank Mr Rankin, teachers, and all the students who participated for making this event come true.
