Volleyball Season 24-25

That’s a wrap to the volleyball season as the last practice took place on Wednesday and the varsity boys and girls just left for Kyoto and Kobe! With the number of participants this year being the absolute highest in HIS history, this year has been remarkable.

A word from the coach 

We have interviewed Coach B on his thoughts for the upcoming tournament.

“Reflecting on your years of coaching, what has been the most rewarding part of leading the volleyball team?”

Seeing the improvement of the players, especially due to the limited amount of practicing/playing time we get compared to other teams

“This year, with the highest number of participants, how did you manage the larger team size and ensure every player got the attention they needed?”

That is in fact the hard part but as we do in some practices, we had most players practice the basics and sometimes I would pull some players to the side to practice 1 on 1.

“What are your thoughts on the team’s preparation going into the tournament? How confident are you in their performance?”

The players I have coached over the years have done fairly well. However, in the tournament it's different. In the past I have taught athletes that feel pressure during the tournament but that is one aspect of team sports. The morale and spirit is something that is not within my reach; controlling that is the job of the players on the court.

With all said, we hope that the 10 members from both the boys and girls team can bring back the trophy from their tournaments. The past few weeks have been very rough and challenging but that is one thing we love to see in the community. Stay tuned to see how the tournament went! Make sure to check the live links!
